Course Objectives

This learning module addresses the following course objectives:

3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of principles and practices in information security, including application of encryption.
4. Design, execute, and evaluate personal or organizational security policies, procedures and practices.
5. Analyze critically situations of computer use, identifying the security issues, consequences and viewpoints.

Module Objectives

After completing the tasks of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of security auditing and describe the mechanisms for auditing.
  2. List and explain several of the legal and ethical issues in information security, including issues of intellectual property.
  3. Describe issues relating to, and solutions for, Internet and wireless security.
  4. Explain the need for business continuity planning; describe several strategies for maintaining the continuity of information technology systems.
  5. Be prepared for the final examination.

Tasks

To achieve the objectives of this module, you must do the following:

  1. Read chapters 18, 19, and 22 through 24 of the textbook according to the schedule in the syllabus.
  2. Review with the class and instructor the slides sets Security Auditing, Legal and Ethical Aspects, Internet Security Protocols, Linux, Windows, and Wireless Security, Business Continuity Planning, and Review for Final according to the schedule in the syllabus.
  3. Complete Quiz 8 by the due date.
